Title: shotgun lipidomics
Post by: crbp123 on November 08, 2012, 01:02:19 AM
Hi,
I just started using XCMS Online and I was wondering if it only works with LC-MS data or also with direct infusion.
I would be interested in analysing some shotgun lipidomics data...
thanks

XCMS Online works great for lipidomics, e.g. with reverse phase LC/MS data.

However, even though DIMS processing is supported by the XCMS backend there is no support for DIMS data in XCMS Online at the moment. We've been asked about this a couple of times already and it is on our list,
but the reason for not implementing it yet, is that the parameter optimization for peak picking of DIMS data is much more challenging than for LC/MS data.
I guess some kind of preview tool to play with the parameters would help - but we are not there yet.
