profile vs centroid, file size issue

HI, I am using the Agilent Q-TOF LC/MS with MassHunter software to acquire my sample signal.  To use the XCMS online, the large size of original file is a bit daunting and troublesome.
So I want to ask about the acquisition mode and file format issue.

Should I acquire in default profile mode and then export/convert in MassHunter to mzDATA format (or other formats), which results in much smaller size? Do I need to set a reasonable Peakfilter?
Or should I aqcuire diectly in centroid mode, which can also give me a smaller file?

Does anyone have experience with this issue, which way can better preserve the signals for downstream analyses?

Thanks in advance for suggestions.
