Problem uploading data in FIREFOX and Internet Explorer

Hi,
I am new to XCMS and I am trying to load some test data and run XCMS following the online wizard,  but I cannot upload the data. The java applet seems to work but it does not. I also updated my java version to check if that helped. I ran the Applet on a Windows 7 and Windows 8 machines with no luck. When I select the files and click upload it seems to work. I wait for the files to be uploaded but when finished the applet does not close as it is supposed to and the files do not appear on the store data-set window. I also followed suggestions from another post in this forum  that referred to the same issue with again no much luck. Is there anybody that can help.
